cyanotype

A cyanotype is a historic camera-less photographic printing process that produces a distinct monochrome Prussian blue image. Developed in 1842 by English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel, it involves coating paper or fabric with a light-sensitive iron salt solution.

exposing on paper is way easier. that is all.

don’t be afraid to do things you’re not good at…

Exposing with the sun especially during the Canadian winter can be really unpredictable so even though I really wanted to be a purist…I realized I was actually just being a martyr. So I bought a UV light

i said i would put this image on a tote bag for someone. i didn’t have a tote bag.

and that’s how I started layering cyanotype over laser printing.

MORE MIXED MEDIA

I was trying to expose photo negatives which I’ve seen other creators do successfully but no matter my exposure time, they didn’t show up. The bottom photo would have had negatives from other photos taken at the same family reunion as the central printed image.

experimenting with adding waves to the liquid surface of these images of cocktails I printed. These were small test prints to see which one I liked the best before making a larger version.
